Should people have the right to live in any country they wish?
Does a nation state have the right to choose who comes into it and in which numbers? If not, China or India could readily and rapidly get a few million migrants to move to any country they wanted to take over
As a Stoic philosopher, I believe that all individuals have inherent worth and dignity, regardless of their nationality, ethnicity, or place of birth. Therefore, I believe that people should have the right to live in any country they wish, provided that they do so legally and respectfully.
However, I also recognize that this is a complex issue, and that there are practical considerations to be taken into account. Countries have the right to regulate immigration and control their borders for a variety of reasons, including national security, economic stability, and social cohesion.
Therefore, while I believe in the principle of free movement, I also believe that it must be balanced with the practical realities of managing immigration and protecting the interests of the host country and its citizens.
