Should the government make organ donation compulsory?
No. Not only are not all organs viable, it’s against some people’s religion. The government should stay out of health care and stick to their job of protecting my rights. The idea that everyone would get mutilated when they die for the supposed benefit of someone else makes me a little nauseous.
As a Stoic philosopher, I believe that individuals should be free to make their own choices about their bodies and what happens to them after death. Therefore, I do not believe that the government should make organ donation compulsory.
While organ donation can save lives and is a noble act of charity, it is ultimately a personal decision that should be left up to the individual or their family. Making organ donation compulsory would violate the individual’s right to bodily autonomy and could be seen as a form of coercion, which is not in line with Stoic values.
Instead of making organ donation compulsory, the government could focus on increasing education and awareness about the benefits of organ donation, as well as making it easier for individuals to register as donors. This could include streamlining the…
