What is freedom? Is true freedom possible?
True freedom is solitary and anarchistic
According to Stoic philosophy, freedom is the ability to exercise our own judgment and to choose how we respond to external events. This means that true freedom is not dependent on our circumstances, but rather on our own mindset and choices.
Stoics believe that true freedom is possible, but it requires us to cultivate certain qualities within ourselves, such as wisdom, self-control, and resilience. By developing these qualities, we become less attached to external things and more focused on our own inner resources.
However, Stoics also recognize that there are certain external factors that we cannot control, such as natural disasters or the actions of other people. In these cases, true freedom means accepting what we cannot change and focusing on what we can control, such as our own attitudes and actions.
In short, true freedom is possible, but it requires us to develop inner strength and to accept the limitations of external circumstances.
