Why do we respect the dead more than the living?

We can’t control other people’s actions or beliefs, but we can control our impression of them. When someone is dead all we have is our impression of them.
* Because regret is greater than gratitude.
* Because they can’t refute anything or prove people otherwise, because they’re dead. So people only remember those heartwarming stories and not how they may have *actually* acted in real life
* The benefits of respecting others are numerous but its hard sometimes. Living people are often undeserving. It’s much easier to respect the dead. Time heals and some grievances are often just forgotten.
* The dead will never disagree with current opinions or life stances taken by the living. The dead never disagree. The perfect ally!! …also…
